ABOUT US

Project DAVINA is a Peer Partnership programme in which the DAVINA
Coordinator will partner with Women who have lived experience of their
own alcohol and or drug use and have survived domestic sexual and
gender-based violence. DAVINA is a psycho educational and advocacy
programme specifically focused on the unique experience of Women
impacted by their own alcohol and or drug use and Domestic Abuse
including intimate partner abuse, child to parent violence or Domestic
Abuse within the family unit. The DAVINA Project is a 3-year Pilot
Programme managed by the SAOL Project. The SAOL Project is the only
All Female Drug and Alcohol rehabilitation Day Programme in Ireland.
Based in Dublin?s North inner City, SAOL is a feminist-based, trauma
informed service which works with Women who have experienced substance
use, poverty, domestic sexual and gender-based violence and systemic
inequality.

THE OPPORTUNITY

This is an exciting opportunity to drive this unique, new innovative
project. DAVINA is an initiative of the SAOL Project and is in direct
response to a growing demand identified by SAOL through outreach work
facilitated by SAOL since March **Apply on the website**. Frontline
workers identified growing incidents and numbers of Women who use
alcohol and or drugs and have experienced Domestic, Sexual and Gender
Based Violence. This group of women have unique needs and have
experienced exclusion and stigma due to societal stigma against women
who use substances. This is an opportunity to work directly with Peers
with lived experience, to connect with other services to ensure that
the needs of Women impacted by Substance use and Domestic Abuse are
positively met and to connect practice with policy through advocacy on
a micro and macro level.

THE PERSON

The DAVINA Coordinator needs to be a dynamic self-starter who is
committed to challenging inequalities which women who use substances
face, particularly their vulnerabilities to Domestic Sexual and Gender
Based Violence. The DAVINA Coordinator needs to understand the unique
needs and challenges of Women who use substances and have experienced
Domestic Sexual and gender-based violence and be prepared to advocate
for women with other services, funders and decision makers. The role
requires an experienced person who can work on their own initiative
and is a skilled collaborator, co-creator and facilitator. The DAVINA
Coordinator needs to be able to drive and create new opportunities for
the project. DAVINA needs a skilled passionate individual with
experience of working with Women in the area of Substance use and
Domestic Sexual and Gender Based Violence.

THE ROLE

The DAVINA Coordinator will work directly with Women who have lived
experience of substance use and Domestic Sexual and Gender Based
Violence to facilitate peer partnered psycho educational and advocacy
programmes. The Coordinator in partnership with peers will strongly
influence the development and implementation of the DAVINA Programme
content and when developed will role this out, initially in Dublin?s
North Inner city and then a strategic role out with relevant services
nationally. The Coordinator will raise issues nationally and
systemically on the specific needs, vulnerabilities and opportunities
for Women impacted by substance use and DSGBV. The Coordinator will
work as part of the SAOL Project team and institute a holistic
response to the needs of individuals through signposting and joint
working. The Coordinator will work on an interagency basis to promote
DAVINA and facilitate peer partnered training for all relevant
services. The DAVINA Coordinator will advocate for women on a macro
and micro basis and think strategically to develop DAVINA and will
actively seek opportunities to promote and develop DAVINA.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

* Third level qualification in Social Work/Social Care/Youth
Community and or related field.
* Minimum of 3 years direct paid employment with vulnerable
populations and communities.
* Experience of working with women who use substances and alcohol
and Domestic Sexual Gender based violence is highly desirable.
* Passion and commitment to work with Women who have experienced
harmful substance and alcohol use and a desire to improve the
circumstances for women who use substances and have experienced
domestic sexual and gender-based violence.
* Excellent assessment skills, communication and an ability to work
effectively with Women who have multiple challenges and disadvantages.
* Excellent presentation skills and a creative approach to the
development and delivery of psycho educational material.
* Willing to be flexible in terms of working hours.
